SV Kelly Allen Sailing Charter in Southport NC

The Sailing Vessel Kelly Allen

The S/V Kelly Allen is a 37-foot O'Day center cockpit sloop - a stately lady of the sea that can easily accomodate up to six passengers. She was built in 1980 and initially served as a training ship for a sailing school in Florida. She made her debut in Southport NC in 1996 and has been sailing charters ever since.

The spacious center cockpit allows a relaxed atmostphere while enjoying the sites during your sail. She has a galley and two heads and while we do not offer overnight accommodations, she has berths for six.

Following tradition, she was christened the sailing vessel Kelly Allen on July 15, 2006 by her sponsor, Captain Bob's daughter, Kelly Allen. She was christened in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean at the mouth of the Cape Fear River. Standing on the bow of her namesake, Kelly Allen spoke these words:

"Oh mighty rulers of the winds, through whose power our frail vessels traverse the wild and faceless deep, we implore you to grant this worthy vessel Kelly Allen the benefits and pleasures of your bounty, ensuring us your gentle ministration according to our needs. I name this ship Kelly Allen and may she bring fair winds and good fortune to all who sail on her."
